Modern Mrs. Cleaver came about years ago…one of those times in life where you’re sitting around and the imaginary light bulb comes on. I found myself thinking of all the unfortunate wisdom and tradition from the past that is falling to the wayside to be forgotten. Things that I believe society has come to either take for granted or just simply not value.
Times have changed…believe me I understand completely. However, I aim to bring it all back! I laugh as I contemplate what I, one person, might be able to achieve in doing this. My goal is to reinvent and pass along recipes that are cost effective (lets face it times aren’t cheap)…and yet delicious and fun to make. I hope to bestow humor by the retelling of my day-to-day life as a housewife and mother. (If ya can’t laugh as a housewife ya got a serious problem)!
If all that fails, I will still walk away knowing that my husband, my children, and my home have all reaped the benefits of my work. I will rejoice in the fact that my children know the taste of a pie crust made from scratch, and I will watch with delight as they dive into the treats I make on a shoestring budget.

I particularly enjoy seeing the vintage pictures you’ve included from the past. You’re off to an entertaining start.
I love what you’re doing, but then again I’m your mother. I guess all the lectures didn’t go in one ear and out the other. Although it didn’t seem like it way back when, life was so much simpler and thus, better back then.
It amazes me to talk to the youger girls/ladies and they have no idea of what some simple phrases or words mean! Take “acting ladylike” as an example. I’m sure my look of surprise astounds them, but then you have an opportunity to define it for them. All of a sudden you feel better inside knowing that you have actually experienced or lived in that moment and could use a true life experience to use as an example while explaining it to them.
Keep up the entertaining and educational tidbits.

I struggle to keep a grip on old fashioned living and values. My wife died 7 months ago (breast cancer) and it is tough to maintain the type of environment that we used to have. It’s so nice to see that others strive for the same things that I do… good decent family living.

I enjoy making things from scratch and try my best to avoid things like seasoning packets and boxed ingredients…they are HUGE culprits in the MSG department. Hope to hear from you again!
